About

Who We Are

Muslim Mental Health Support (MMHS) is an online counselling platform designed to provide an accessible and convenient mental health service. MMHS was established to meet the diverse mental health needs of the Muslim communities through identifying significant gaps in existing mental health systems. It’s intrinsic that support must align with the principles of Islam to ensure both quality of care and meaningful outcomes — a connection that has been consistently supported by numerous reports.

Unlike many counselling organisations that operate without a religious framework, MMHS integrates both evidence-based counselling therapies, modern psychology and Islamic psychology into the therapeutic process. Islam already provides a rich and comprehensive framework for understanding the human experience — from the ruh (soul) and the qalb (heart) to the intellect and emotions. By incorporating these timeless principles alongside modern counselling methods, we offer a more holistic and authentically aligned approach to mental health care.

The question must be asked: how can we truly support someone if we are only working with part of who they are? Ignoring the spiritual dimension of a person not only limits therapy outcomes but also impacts the sustainability of their overall well-being. At MMHS, we believe that addressing the heart and soul — the fundamental essence of a human being — is essential for true, lasting wellbeing and stability.

Another important consideration is that therapy delivered without cultural or religious understanding can be more harmful than we realise. Receiving therapy that does not align with Islamic values — or encountering cultural and religious incompetence — can lead to confusion, harm, and the internalisation of dangerous ideologies. Our commitment is to offer mental health support that not only nurtures your well-being but also protects your Islam.

At MMHS, we are committed to providing Islam-centered mental health support that respects, nurtures, and empowers every part of you — mind, body, and soul.

About Islamic Psychology

Islamic psychology offers a profound and unique framework for understanding the human psyche, rooted in centuries of scholarship and spiritual wisdom. It recognises the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and soul, acknowledging that emotional well-being is not solely the result of cognitive or behavioural factors, but also deeply intertwined with spiritual health.

At MMHS, we integrate Islamic psychological principles with modern therapeutic methods to provide a more complete and authentic approach to mental health. This includes recognising the importance of the ruh (soul), qalb (heart), nafs (behavioural inclinations) and aql (intellect) in shaping our emotional and mental experiences. By addressing these core dimensions, we ensure that our clients receive a therapy that is not only effective but also aligned with Islam, promoting healing that transcends the mind and extends to the soul. Our approach empowers individuals to find peace, clarity, and strength in their relationship with Allah, while providing practical tools to navigate life's challenges.
